The Scorpion HBR-20P is a Solid -State Electronic Permissible Blasting Machine: MSHA Approval No.: 16E-15. The unit is exceptionally rugged and specially designed for the harsh mining environment it was meant to serve. It is completely sealed making it waterproof and impervious to dust, dirt, sand, and debris. It features EIT’s specially developed Heavy-Duty Push Down Binding Posts for quick and secure lead line attachment. The HBR-20P incorporates 2 recessed covered pushbutton switches for Charge and Fire operations. For safety, the operator must depress and maintain the “Charge” switch while the unit is indicating “Ready” to proceed to “Fire”, and in that order. This two-switch procedure ensures the intent to initiate. For the added safety of operations in coal and gassy mines, per MSHA regulations regarding Permissible Blasting Machines, the HBR-20P shunts the electrical output of the unit approximately 4.5 to 8 milliseconds after current is detected. The Scorpion HBR-20P offers rapid-charging and is engineered so that it may only fire when fully charged and maintaining verified armed specifications. Four AA batteries provide a lengthy service of Charge/Fire cycles. The battery pack loads smoothly through the side of the unit into a waterproof compartment secured in place by an easy-on/easy-off Battery Cap. The Scorpion HBR-20P incorporates 2 stainless steel D-Ring attachment points should the user opt to attach a strap or other carrying accessory.
